The "S" Family

IMG_3297-2

Happy New Year, everyone!!!!! I also hope you all had a very Merry Christmas as well. One of my last shoots before I took a break for the holidays was the "S" family. "J" and I went to high school together and she asked me if I would get some shots of her beautiful family which just a few months ago had a new addition, Miss "G". We were very lucky to have good weather that day considering how much rain we have seen in recent months! Such an easy shoot to do when you have a great family like this to work with! Enjoy!!

Miss L and Little E........

IMG_2704

Last weekend I was able to take a few shots of my good friend's little ones, "L" and "E". It went pretty smooth for the most part but little "E" was not feeling too well so most his photos were taken with him and I "on the run". "L" was perfect the entire time. That is such a great age to shoot(usually)! Enjoy!!

Engagement session of "A" and "B"

IMG_9253

Let's begin at the beginning.......

My cousin "A" asked me back in April if I would shoot her and "B's" engagement portraits. Of course I told her yes even though I was only half way through my photography courses and a little unsure of myself to say the least. As the day of the shoot approached I kept having the same thought run through my mind..."would I get enough shots, will they like the locations I picked out, will they be happy with their final prints?" Everything turned out better than expected.... great weather, plenty of laughing and cutting up and great shots was the outcome!! I have posted a few samples from that day. Enjoy.

*I also did the wedding photos( which I normally don't do) but that's a post for another day.

Slowly but surely....it's begun.

Hello out there in bloggy land. As some of you know I have been gearing up for the past several months getting my photography business started(there's MUCH more too it than most people think). I have finished the last of my photography courses and have been shadowing another local portrait photographer. That has been the most help of all. It's not all just "point and click" and you come out with the beautiful portraits you see online and in peoples homes. There is so much to learn in order to produce a great product. Thankfully my family have been good sports about being used as "test models"!

I am strictly shooting as an on location photographer, no studio work. I prefer to shoot outdoors to obtain the most natural light possible. Natural light makes for the most flattering portraits. I can come to the location of your choice......your home, a nearby park or any place that has special meaning to you and your family. I also have a few spots of my own that can be used such as an old church, horse barn or railroad tracks. I am always on the hunt for new locations. That is my goal for the spring so I can offer Live Easter Bunny sessions.

As I continue building my website, I will be offering "Portfolio Building" specials. It will consist of no sitting fees and half off all prints and CD collections. This offer will be available to the first 5 bookings I receive. Keep a look out for emails about this special very soon. There is still time for Christmas Card photos to be done. Contact me @ portraitsbyjulie@yahoo.com if you are interested in having some taken. Cutoff for these will be December 13th. Due to the unpredictable shipping during to holidays, these images will be delivered to you on a CD so you can print your cards at home or however you choose. If you still prefer custom greeting cards I can have them shipped overnight for an additional cost.

In the next few days, I will be posting some of my previous work so you can get an idea of my shooting style. I hope to add your family's faces to my portfolio in the near future!
